Emma Love Instructing White Water SUP

A Really Warm Welcome To WotBikini!

When I was 45yrs old, I along with my then very young son had our very first go on kayaks at Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham.  While on the water, we saw some children playing on paddle boards.  Intrigued, we quickly exchanged our kayaks for SUP's and I was hooked!

Little did I know that stepping on this board would be the beginning of an incredible journey.  Five years later, not only have I had my writing published online with British Canoeing, I was the second woman in the UK to qualify as a British Canoeing White Water SUP Coach!

In 2020 and to my great surprise, I was offered the opportunity to become a British Canoeing #She Paddles Ambassador. In 2021 I was invited to join the Californian Watersport Collective Ambassador programme.

The role of a British Canoeing #ShePaddles Ambassador has really empowered me to speak and write about my own paddling journey as a means to inspire other women to try our amazing sport.  This has included podcasts both here in the UK with SUPFM, in the USA with Paul Clark, and with Etienne Stott, Olympic Slalom Gold Medal Winner.

In February 2021, I was thrilled to be asked by SUP Mag UK to write a series of interviews celebrating the explosion of women coming through the White Water SUP coaching route.  I am very proud of this year long project and so honoured to have had the opportunity to chat with Jenna Sanders, Jessica Phillip, Lisa Boore, Charlotte Louise, Louise Royle, Beth Kirby, Julie Vigor and Joyce Johnston.  All incredible women, inspiring paddlers and talented coaches. Summer 2021 saw me taking a huge leap!  I took a tucked away dream of mine and turned it into a reality -  my very own SUP coaching business 'WotBikini'.   My specialism is in building women's confidence on the water via stand up paddle boarding.   And with this, I am very proud to have become a British Canoeing Delivery Partner.

It was an amazing first season, and just wonderful to meet and support so many inspiring women.  For whom the majority, has been their very first paddling experience.  We have learnt together, developed, laughed (a lot) and really enjoyed having time on the water in what was (with the pandemic) one of the strangest and saddest of years.

2021 culminated with my business being nominated for two British Canoeing 'Delivery Partner' Awards.  I am delighted to have been selected for both the 2022 'Engagement Award Finalist' & 2022 'Quality Experience Award Finalist'!  The winners will be announced in January 2022.

Please click on the pictures below - have a read, a listen, a giggle.  I hope you too are inspired to come along and try the amazing paddlesport that is Stand Up Paddleboarding!
